AuSable Valley Animal Shelter is a NO-KILL shelter and a 100% non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of homeless and abandoned dogs and cats. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on donations, gifts, and grants to support our mission.
With a strong record of successful adoptions, we not only serve our local community but also extend our reach to assist high-risk shelters. By transferring animals from overcrowded or under-resourced facilities, we help relieve pressure on those shelters and give more animals the opportunity to find permanent, loving homes.
Through compassionate care, responsible adoption practices, and ongoing community outreach, we work to ensure every animal receives the second chance they deserve. At AuSable Valley, we are committed to being a safe haven—and a strong voice—for pets in need.
Happy Tails Are Our Specialty
With roots stretching back to the 1970's the first independent nonprofit organization for the shelter was founded in 1992. It was another fifteen years, 2007, before we found our current home and adopted the name AuSable Valley Animal Shelter.
